Kristin is an information professional, artist, and recent Master of Library & Information Science graduate whose interests live at the intersection of information, creativity, culture, and access.
Art and information are not separate worlds.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from San Francisco State University and a Master of Library & Information Science from San José State University, Kristin brings together two disciplines that share an important purpose: helping people discover, understand, preserve, and connect with ideas.
Her library and information science education provides a foundation in research, information organization, access, digital resources, and community-centered service. Her Studio Art background contributes visual literacy, creative problem-solving, aesthetic awareness, and an understanding of how people experience objects, images, and spaces.
Through Young Black Librarian, Kristin is building a professional platform that reflects the full range of those interests while exploring the importance of representation in libraries, cultural institutions, collections, and other information environments.

Two years of professional experience
Middle School Art Teacher
For two years, Kristin worked as a middle school Art Teacher, bringing visual arts education, creativity, communication, organization, and student engagement together in the classroom. She created a learning environment where young people could explore ideas, develop creative confidence, and express their own perspectives through art.
Her experience as an educator strengthened skills that carry naturally into librarianship and other information and cultural environments, including instruction, program planning, communication, community engagement, organization, and making ideas accessible to people with different learning needs.
Kristin’s professional path reflects a consistent interest in helping people learn, create, discover, and connect. Her background in arts education, combined with graduate training in Library & Information Science, creates a strong foundation for opportunities across libraries, education, cultural institutions, visual resources, collections, and community-centered organizations.
